How to Reach Haridwar, Rishikesh & Kedarnath

Via Air

The nearest airport is Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport, connected to Delhi and a few other major cities by daily flights. From the airport, it's roughly an hour's drive to Haridwar and about 30–40 minutes to Rishikesh, so most travelers land, freshen up, and join the itinerary the same day.

Via Train

Haridwar Junction and Rishikesh Railway Station are both well connected to Delhi and other major North Indian cities, with several daily trains, including overnight options that get you in by early morning. Haridwar Junction sees more direct trains, so it's the more convenient station if you're unsure which to book.

Via Road

How to Prepare for the Kedarnath Yatra

• Start walking, light jogging, or stair-climbing daily for 3–4 weeks before departure — the trek rewards basic fitness, not gym-level training.
• Carry layered clothing; temperatures at Kedarnath can swing sharply between morning and night, even in peak season.
• Keep a printed and digital copy of your Kedarnath Yatra registration confirmation — it's checked at Sonprayag.
• Carry cash — ATMs are unreliable past Guptkashi, and network connectivity drops near Gaurikund.
• Build in one buffer day if you can; sudden weather closures on the trek route aren't rare.
• Book helicopter seats early if you're choosing that route — availability tightens fast in peak months.

Rishikesh: Bridges & Optional Add-Ons

Rishikesh now has three suspension bridges — Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula, plus the newer Janki Jhula, which is split into three lanes (two for two-wheelers, one for pedestrians) and doesn't sway like the older two.

For travelers with extra time on Day 5 or 6, licensed operators in Rishikesh run white-water rafting, bungee jumping, rappelling, kayaking, and rock climbing. These are optional and not part of the package cost.
